Open Chat Interfacedocs

v0.10.2

One send starts one conversation, a limit on starting conversations, and unused conversations cleaned up after a day. No migrations.

Released 2026-10-03. A patch release after v0.10.1. Upgrade to this instead of v0.10.1, which it replaces.

Fixed

  • One send starts one conversation. On v0.10.1, sending from the new-chat page could start another conversation for every key press that arrived before the page had moved to the new one. Once, that left thousands of empty conversations. A second start is now blocked while one is under way, Send is disabled meanwhile, and holding Enter sends once.
  • New chat with query in the command palette now sends its query. It used to leave an empty conversation instead.

For administrators

  • A limit on starting conversations. Each person can start as many conversations a minute as their role's messages per minute, and an eleventh unused conversation within a minute is refused. Both answer 429 with Retry-After. See Budgets and limits.
  • Unused conversations are cleaned up. An hourly job deletes conversations that are still untitled, have no messages and have not been touched for a day. Pinned, archived, imported and temporary conversations are left alone, as is everything belonging to someone on legal hold. Each deletion is recorded in the audit log with the reason unused_expiry. See Retention.

For operators

  • The repository and images are public. Pulling ghcr.io/ncecere/open-chat-interface/{api,web} needs no registry login.

Upgrading

No migrations and no new environment variables. Replace the API and web images as a pair (v0.10.2). See Upgrades.
