v0.9.0
Make and operate — artifacts, file export, user memory, long conversations, meaning-based project search, compliance export and legal hold, automated backups, metrics, traces and webhooks.
Released 2026-10-03. Two themes: things people make (artifacts, files, memory, long conversations) and things operators need (compliance, backups, observability).
For people
- Artifacts. HTML pages, SVG images, Mermaid diagrams and long documents from replies are kept as versioned artifacts. Tool-capable models create and revise them; you watch them being written in a panel that opens beside the conversation on wide screens, take them full screen (also on phones and share links), browse versions, copy, download, and edit documents directly. Pages run in a sandboxed frame with no network access. See Artifacts.
- Export as Word, PDF, PowerPoint or Excel from replies and document artifacts. See Exporting as files.
- User memory, opt-in for the instance, the role and each person, with
rememberandforgetfor tool-capable models, Memory updated with Undo, and never in temporary chats. See Memory. - Long conversations are summarised in the background instead of losing their oldest turns, without making anyone wait; Summarise earlier messages now asks for one. See Long conversations.
- Meaning-based search for project files, and optional reranking, when your institution sets them up.
- A live reasoning preview: three lines under Thinking… while a model thinks.
- A hint to connect a connector above the message box.
- Replies show their parts in the order they were written (reasoning, tool steps, text), also in share links and Markdown exports.

For administrators
- Compliance export and legal hold: audit events, and optionally content, exported as verified JSON Lines to S3 exactly once; holds that pause retention and deletion for named people. See Compliance.
- Automated backups: a daily, verified
pg_dumpto S3 with a manifest of file objects and daily and weekly retention. See Backups. - Webhooks for audit events, signed with HMAC-SHA256 and retried. See Observability and webhooks.
- Embeddings and reranking on Providers & Models. See Embeddings and reranking.
- New switches: Artifacts per role, User memory for the instance and per role, Summarise long conversations and Editorial diagrams on General.
- Web searches that time out are retried once; connector token refresh is coordinated across replicas.
- Project search adds only relevant passages, so an unrelated question adds none.
For operators
- Metrics at
/metricswhenMETRICS_TOKENis set, and OpenTelemetry traces whenOTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINTis set. - The API image includes the PostgreSQL 17 client tools for backups.
- Artifact frame headers: if you run your own proxy, see Reverse proxy.
- File exports need up to two CPU cores and about 1.2 GB extra memory per API replica at peak.
Fixes
Scrolling past the end of a conversation no longer carries the message box off screen; Stop and Send icons are visible on the neutral theme; highlighted code follows OCI's theme rather than the system's; the cursor stays in the message box when starting from the home page; the first message no longer sits under the top bar on phones.
Upgrading from v0.8.0
Migrations 0028 to 0034. Read the v0.9.0 upgrade notes first: 0034 locks the audit log while it numbers existing entries, and upgrading straight from v0.7 needs the old replicas stopped before migrating. New optional environment variables: METRICS_TOKEN, OTEL_EXPORTER_OTLP_ENDPOINT, OTEL_SERVICE_NAME, BACKUP_PG_BIN_DIR. Meaning-based search needs pgvector.
Removed: the unused user_preference.boring_mode column (migration 0031).
Known limitations
Planned for v0.10, and shipped in v0.10.0:
- Legal hold does not yet pause project file deletion or usage-record pruning, and deletions are not exported as compliance events.
- Backups list file objects rather than copying them; protect files with bucket versioning or volume snapshots.
- Exported PDFs cover Western European characters only.
- The artifact panel cannot be resized, and reloading during a very long artifact may not resume its stream.
- A summary someone asked for that fails in the background is not reported.
